The End Has Come.

Well it’s been a long time, but I’ve finally decided to (conclusively) update this site. This shall be my last post on this web address, which henceforth shall fall into disuse. I’ve decided that the house-keeping and management of one cruddily designed website (with no PHP or ASP support) is just too much for me to bear if I intend to do frequent updates. Altogether, I believe it is this reason that has deterred me from updating lately.

That said, I’m pleased to announce that I have some creative things on the go. Starting 2006, I intend to start my own web-comic that will hopefully appeal to those of you undergoing the same challenges and developments that I am. I’m hoping that this will also improve my drawing skills and perhaps even illicit a laugh or two from those who read it. I’m aiming to have this new blog running as soon as possible, but I do intend to focus the blog specifically about the web-comic.

Returning to the subject of websites, I have decided that to host this new web-comic idea, I am initiating a new BlogSpot account which will double as a hosting solution for the comic and also as another blog of sorts. The reason for choosing BlogSpot as opposed to just re-launching a new site is spurred by a number of concerns that I can’t afford to or simply refuse to address:

  • There are very few hosting companies that allow PHP or ASP data support for free. Even fewer offer decent URL names.
  • Hosting anything more advanced than the existing content would require a paid account with some hosting company or another. I’m a month away from becoming a starving Uni student, so I clearly can’t afford to spend money on anything that won’t keep me breathing.
  • Creating a new website would be annoying, frustrating, time consuming, and mind-boggling. I prefer my mind un-boggled.
  • I don’t know PHP or ASP, although as Chris and the rest of the entire web community assure me, database technology is a requisite for this kind of thing.

Whilst BlogSpot does not offer direct solutions to all of these issues, it will be a pleasant change to simply type in an entry and press Post instead of navigating through 200+ lines of HTML trying to find the right place to copy and paste my entry from MS Word.

I do intend to preserve all my blog entries written to date through some form or another; however I shall not erase this Bravehost account. All my art (as pitiful as it may be) shall remain here untouched, as will my blog Posts from my old-old blog and the special holiday and flood pages. These are especially important as they document important periods in my life so far that I’m sure will make me feel very nostalgic at some point in the future.

Anyway, moving onto the latest happenings in my life. School is finished for now and forever. This pleases me greatly, as I no longer have to offer false sincerity to all the pitiless tools that surround me. The impolite monster within is free!

After school ended, some family matters took place that have made things slightly complex at home. This is an okay kind of thing and should not be something to dwell upon, as all will become right in time.

Today I received official notice of my Overall Position in the mail. The nice mailman dressed in his little hazard vest and breezy short-shorts came up to our veranda and handed the curt envelope to me personally. Although I found out my result on the Internet a few days ago, it was still very endearing to receive official confirmation on a nice piece of expensive paper. I have received an OP of 1. W00ty for me. Looks like I might have a shot at a Dean’s Scholarship at QUT next year.

That’s more or less a comprehensive summary of the last few weeks. Sure, there’s a lot of grey area, but I’m sure you can use your imagination to fill the gaps. Fighting the undead, throwing authority figures down stairs, being propositioned by fair maidens and refusing because I’m taken. Pretty standard stuff really.

I guess it’s time to finally put this baby to sleep. I deem this blog to be discontinued, except perhaps to leave a URL for my next blog which will hopefully be for my web-comic.

Fare thee well. I shall see you in the void ahead.
